Kenya Ministry Visit

This month we’re having a number of fundraising initiatives towards our ministry team visit to Kibera in Nairobi, Kenya. A Body Shop party was held on Monday 5th July plus on each Sunday during July there will be a £0.50 per item tuck shop run by some of our Young People – all profits will go towards the purchase of some sports equipment for the Spurgeon’s School!

We also have a list of items that you could help provide to take out with us at the end of this month such as: Green uniform (dresses, jumpers & sweatshirts) plus grey school shorts & skirts and underwear (socks & pants) for children aged 3-15. In addition we would welcome toothbrushes, first aid kits (plasters & bandages) plus small items of stationary. Alternatively you could give a financial gift to enable us to purchase items for the school while we are out there!

On Sunday 11th July we held a ‘mufty’ day with a difference! In keeping with the World Cup Final Sunday we hosted a football themed Service with Church members paying £1 to come to church in a favourite football shirt or alternatively still paying £1 to come in their Sunday best!

Life long Baggies fan & Church Pastor David McNeil was sponsored to wear a Villa shirt for the whole service – without wearing an Albion shirt underneath and raised a superb £160 for the experience?! Evidence is provided below: -

The sale of the Krispy Kreme doughnuts went down really, really well…could we have these every week please I hear some of you say? Well the really good news is that through the combined sales of donuts, tuck shop items & football shirt sponsorship we’ve been able to raise a superb £327 – £82 of which has been used to buy a set of 5-a-side Samba goals to take out to Kenya!

This Sunday 25th July we’ll be finishing up the series on the Lord’s Prayer with some concluding thoughts as well as time to pray for the Team who will be flying out to Kenya that evening!
